Splitting his time between LA and Scotland (on a UK Global Talent visa), George Strayton is a veteran genre/drama writer-director with an eclectic background: After his family fled the mob in New York, he joined the CIA recruitment program in the waning days of the Cold War. Following stints in rock bands and on Wall Street, he figured out how to sneak onto the Universal Studios lot and wrote his way into the intimate writing circle of Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Mission: Impossible), spending the next decade working on their film and television projects.

Strayton’s feature writing/producing credits include Paramount’s animated actioner Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonlance and the Sundance Award-winning documentary Alive Inside. He has also performed uncredited rewrite work on major studio features including Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Star Trek Beyond.

He’s currently in post-production on a short film he wrote and directed, The Star Cycle, filmed on location in Scotland. Crew included producer Mark Lacey (Tornado), DP/VFX Supervisor Dante Harbridge Robinson (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), and BAFTA-award-winning editor Conor Meechan (Chloe, Amazon/BBC). The feature script the short is taken from has been nominated for Best Screenplay at the 2026 Paris International Indie Film & Screenplay Festival.

His television writing/producing credits include Sam Raimi’s #1 syndicated action series Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Disney’s family sci-fi series MECH-X4, and Netflix’s supernatural drama October Faction, where he served as co-executive producer / #2.

His multi-award-winning original television pilot The Skywalker is a Best TV Pilot nominee at the Oscar®-qualifying 2026 HollyShorts Film Festival.

Over the past year, Strayton has earned 34 placements across four original features and television pilots in screenplay competitions open to professional writers, including five wins — the Hollywood Best Indie Film Awards, LA Film Awards, Filmmatic TV Pilot Awards, Alpine International Film Festival, and Action/Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Thriller Festival — and finalist placements in the Santa Barbara International Screenplay Awards, Filmmatic Sci-Fi/Fantasy Awards, and Palm Springs Screenplay Contest.

In 2021, Strayton was one of 30 writer-producers selected for the inaugural cohort of WGA East’s prestigious Showrunner Academy, receiving mentorship from industry luminaries including Tina Fey (Kimmy Schmidt), David Simon (The Wire), and Jesse Armstrong (Succession), among others.
